Holy Cow! Massive Beef Recall Hits Michigan
What is going on?
We are having recall after recall!
Now, according to reports, 58,000 pounds of ground beef have been recalled!
ABC News shared that the U.S. Department of Agriculture has released a recall on roughly 58,281 pounds of raw ground beef.
What's the reason behind the recall?
It is due to possible E. coli contamination!
"American Foods Group and business operator Green Bay Dressed Beef announced a recall Friday after a sample collected by a state public health official notified the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Services that some products may be contaminated with Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC) O103."
How Does This Affect Michigan?
ABC says that,
"The now recalled food items had been shipped to distributors in Georgia, Michigan and Ohio, the USDA said."
So the recalled items are probably in stores as we speak!
"Distributors and customers who may have purchased these products are urged by the USDA not to use them or distribute them further."
The products should be thrown away or returned immediately!
What happens if you get sick?
If you have consumed the STEC bacteria from the recalled meat, people tend to get sick one to 10 days after the fact,
Symptoms for the bacteria can include vomiting and diarrhea that gets worse over several days, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Most of the time, people recover within a week but there have been cases where people develop a more severe infection.
Please be safe and notify everyone you can!
