7 Things Every Michigander Swaps When Winter Arrives
I think one of the greatest things that Michiganders get to experience is all four seasons. Truly.
There are so many states whose climate stays much more moderate, whereas Michigan gets the chance to experience very high highs, very low lows, and everything in between.

Obviously Michigan experiences a cooling off during fall, but it's when you start to get ready for cold fall turning to winter that you start to make some major swaps.
The Big Michigan Swap: Summer to Winter
You decide to bring out the big storage bins of cold weather clothes and put away the ones from summer. But what other swaps do Michiganders make?
Here's a look at seven major swaps that Michiganders make when summer goes from fall to winter.
1. Flip-flops to Boots
Between snow and road salt, there's no way your tootsies would survive a Michigan winter without some kind of protection.
2. Shorts to Long Pants
Sure, some of you maniacs might still decide to wear shorts while shoveling snow from your driveway (like my neighbor), but for the most part, shorts are being put away for the season.
3. Tank-tops to Sweatshirts & Sweaters
Grab those giant storage bins filled with your sweaters and make the swap for the season.
4. Light Jackets to Heavy Coats
Put away the thin windbreakers, it's time to break out the parkas and Carhartts.

5. Regular tires to Snow tires
If you can afford to make the swap, it certainly wouldn't hurt.
6. Beach towels to Cozy blankets
Instead of keeping extra towels around for a spontaneous beach day, it's time to trade them for cozy blankets, at least one per couch/chair.
7. Grills to Crockpots and Ovens
You basically go from never turning the oven on unless you absolutely must, to looking forward to the fact that the oven will help heat the house up just a little bit.
