Continuing the Tradition: Cascades Ice Cream Company, Jackson

Being the ice cream fanatic that I am, I’m anticipating a yearly visit to the Cascades Ice Cream Company at Cascades Falls Park. People stop here, park their cars or bikes, grab a cone or sundae, and walk the trails as they enjoy their treats.

Cascades Ice Cream Company is a family-owned ice cream ‘walk-up parlor’ co-owned by Tim Proietti. In an article on Mlive, he states one of the reasons he enjoys this endeavor is because “you’re serving ice cream; you’re not digging ditches.” Enough said.

The goodies will be here waiting for you: brownies, cones, flurries, ice cream sandwiches, malteds, parfaits, shakes, and sundaes with hand-dipped and soft serve ice cream, and 37 flavors to choose from. By the way, Mlive also states that for anyone who used to cruise The Dome all those decades ago on East Michigan Avenue, the Cascades Ice Cream Company uses the same Dome recipe for their frozen malteds.

All your usual flavor favorites are here, as are Blue Moon, Superman.....many candy-oriented concoctions are found here, and the favorite seems to be the Peanut Butter Lover parfait: vanilla ice cream with peanut butter and chocolate syrup.

No sweet tooth on a particular day? Then have a coney or a hot pretzel. The Cascades Ice Cream Company aims to please you each and every year.....and they do.

So ‘get on your bikes and ride’.....The shop is located at 1800 South Brown Street and open from April-October.
