Potterville’s Sam Davis Shines At The Oscars
The Oscars turned out to be a big night for a local filmmaker from Potterville, Michigan, who took home an Oscar for best live action short film.
Sam Davis, who showed some love to his hometown of Potterville, which is located just south of Lansing, while accepting the award for best live action short film for his movie, "The Singers." His film tied for the award along with "Two People Exchanging Saliva," and during his acceptance speech, he gave some love to Michigan.

I didn't know that was a thing, to tie. But we're happy to be up here. First, I want to thank my parents, who convinced a kid from Potterville, Michigan, that this was a viable career avenue. Thank you, Mom and Dad
There were other winners through the night with Michigan connections who were a part of the winning cast. Ultimately, it was cool that Michigan got some love on the big stage, showing just how much the state has to offer.
Overall, it was a massive win for One Battle After Another starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, Benicio del Toro, Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor, and Chase Infiniti, including best picture, director, supporting actor, adapted screenplay, editing, and casting.
Whereas Sinners took four wins with best actor in Michael B. Jordan, cinematography, original score, and original screenplay.
Frankenstein, which was arguably the most artistic of all the films and was very overlooked considering the award totals, took three wins with production design, costume design, makeup & hairstyling.
