Measles Cases Just Hit A 35 Year High And Michigan Is Paying Attention

We are just now getting startling information that Measles cases in the United States have reached their highest level in 35 years. This a disease we declared eliminated in this country a quarter-century ago.

This is scary. What is happening?

The website I vaccinate.org reported that "Johns Hopkins University shows 2,295 measles cases have been reported nationwide so far this year, surpassing the 2,286 infections recorded during all of 2025 and marking the highest annual total since 1991."

If you remember, here in the United States in 2020, it was said that measles was now eliminated since only 86 cases were reported. But, that all changed last year, 2025.

Why? It's simple. Much lower vaccination rates, leaving more and more children very vulnerable.

Here in Michigan, the group Michigan for Vaccines is saying:

“Recent reporting underscores the importance of ensuring Michiganders have access to accurate, science-based information about vaccines. The science hasn't changed. Decades of rigorous research have found no link between vaccines and autism, and vaccines remain one of the safest and most effective tools for preventing serious illness and protecting our communities."

Are you concerned? It seems so Michigan for Vaccines says since EPIC-MRA polling found that 62% of Michigan voters are concerned about the return of vaccine-preventable diseases such as measles, whooping cough, and flu.

Measles is nothing to ignore or mess with, I vaccinate.org says. The virus is one of the most contagious infectious diseases; so contagious, in fact, that 90% of unvaccinated people who are exposed end up contracting it. Additionally, 1 in 5 of those people end up hospitalized, according to the CDC.
