You Might Want To Think Twice Before Parking Here In Grand Rapids
I love taking my dogs Benny and Paddy on walks.

It's good for them to get exercise and stimulation from all the smells, and it gives me a chance to clear my brain from a hectic workday.
While on these walks around Grand Rapids I often check out beautiful homes for ideas of what we could do at our place.
You Might Want To Think Twice Before Parking Here In Grand Rapids
On a recent walk I stopped to let the dogs sniff a pole, when I looked around I spotted this sign and busted out laughing so hard people driving by probably thought I was losing it.
If it's hard to read the sign says;
"Jewelry store precious parking only. Violators will be towed and melted down for jewelry"
Good thing the sign is most likely a joke because there were several cars parked in the lot even though the jewelry store was closed.
The jewelry store with a good sense of humor is Metal Arts Studio.
They're located on the corner of Diamond Ave SE & Cherry Street SE
Can this jewelry store tow your ride and melt it down?
They can't melt it down, but businesses in Michigan generally have the right to tow unauthorized vehicles from their parking lots, but there are specific requirements that must be met:
- The property owner must post clear notices about towing at all vehicular entry points to the parking lot.
- These notices must be prominently displayed
- Have letters at least 2 inches high on a contrasting background
- Clearly state that unauthorized vehicles will be towed at the owner's expense
- Provide the name and phone number of the towing service responsible
- Be permanently installed at least 4 feet from the ground
- Be continuously maintained for at least 24 hours before any towing occurs
Next time you park make sure to look around and read the signs or else your car might get towed or even worse, melted down for jewelry.
