Don't tell my wife Lindsey, but she's a better driver than me. But even with her behind the wheel, I'd still be a bit nervous if we were traveling through these 12 intersections that have been labeled as Michigan's most dangerous intersections.

According to the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), there are more than 107,000 intersections in the state of Michigan. Michigan Auto Law, a Michigan-based law firm, created the list of Michigan's most dangerous intersections using police information from 2021 to determine which intersections saw the most crashes.

What Makes These Michigan Intersections So Dangerous?

Streets were originally designed to be places where homes or businesses would be, with walkable areas and low-speed traffic. Roads, on the other hand, were originally designed solely for getting drivers from point A to point B as quickly and efficiently as possible. "Stroads" blend the two: high-speed traffic, upwards of 45 miles an hour, meets the entrances to businesses, and they are everywhere.
