Michigan Man Sets Unique Guinness World Record
Owning a world record is something that only so many people can say they have the honor of having. There are a large number of world records but obtaining one is extremely difficult for many reasons. Firstly, you have to find something that someone else has not already done or something that you feel is beatable, which both of those things are hard to do.

I used to flip through the Guinness Book of World Records and dream about doing something cool enough to land myself amongst these great people in history and own that record for an extended period of time. Well, I haven't found my record yet, so I'll keep looking for something to take me to the promised land.
Although I haven't reached glory yet, there are 7 other people from Michigan have already done so. They range from things involving sports and props to lemonade stands and products. Now, they will be joined by another Michigander who will be inducted into the Guiness World Record ranks for not just one record but two!
Dan Galanto, a Grand Rapids, Michigan man who is originally from Chicago, Illinois is going to be entering the Guinness World Record Books for two of the most unique records I have ever heard of. They both involve lifting weights, which doesn't seem weird, but when you add in a unicycle, things get crazy.
That's right, Galanto combines riding a unicycle and lifting weights for the ultimate workout. The balance and core strength needed to ride the unicycle alongside the core and upper body strength needed to lift the weights, this is a true full body workout.
Galanto now holds the records for two heaviest single barbell press at 93.71 kilograms (206.6 pounds) and the heaviest single dumbbell press at 35.42 kilograms (78.1 pounds), both while balancing on a unicycle which he set back in September of 2024. Both feats were certified earlier this month by Guinness World Records and now belong to Galanto.

Dan beat out the previous record holder Jason Auld of Scotland who was able to lift 149.9-pound barbell while on his unicycle. He is no newcomer to lifting weights or riding unicycles as he has been doing both for about 20 years but had never done either competitively.
These are just the beginning of his feats as he wants to try and be in the Guinness World Records for fastest 100-meter car push and highest pole vault, both while on a unicycle, of course, but only if he's able to borrow someone's car and their pole-vaulting maps.
