Is Pure Michigan Becoming Better Known As Pure Marijuana? See the Signs
Ever since recreational marijuana has been legal in Michigan, billboards are popping up everywhere and seem to be welcoming people to Pure Marijuana...I mean Michigan.
Pure Michigan
Driving in and out of the state of Michigan, we have all seen these Pure Michigan signs as we enter or return to the state. Nice touch with the "Work Zone Begins" because we Michiganders know all about fixing the damn roads here is a never-ending project.
The Pure Michigan advertising campaign was started in the Mitten state back in 2008. The campaign was designed to bring tourism to the state as well as build pride in
Michiganders. I'm sure you've heard of actor/comedian Tim Allen since he was the original voice of the Pure Michigan campaign. You can check out Allen in the commercial below.
Certainly, with a promotion like this, there will be some creative spoofs made and I have a not-safe-for-work version below regarding Michigan potholes so view it at your own risk.
Is it Pure Michigan or Pure Marijuana?
A guy by the name of Scott Weber captured this gem of a Pure Michigan photo and if you look closely at the two billboards, they are all about marijuana as you enter the state. The folks on Facebook never disappoint so let's take a look at some of the comments that showed up on the "I Grew Up In Michigan" Facebook page below.
Weber who took the initial photo talks about a sign that is 29 miles from the Michigan border that addresses the smell coming from the state at the top of the above post.
The thread is incredibly divided with some pro and some against legalized marijuana. Michigan roads seem to be a hot topic on this thread.
