West Michigan native and U.S. Representative Justin Amash got the rumor mill swirling on Monday afternoon after a brief exchange on Twitter.

Amash, who is now classified an Independent after leaving the Republican party back in July, Tweeted his disagreement with President Trump on Monday, and followed it up by saying, "Americans who believe in limited government deserve another option." A constituent replied to the tweet by simply saying, "Please be you", to which Amash responded, "I'm looking at it closely this week."

Amash has made a name for himself by openly criticizing President Trump, including when told then then president-elect, "Dude, just stop." in response to Trump trash-talking civil rights icon John Lewis.

Amash represents Michigan's Third Congressional District which includes Barry County, Calhoun County, Ionia County, Montcalm County, and all except the northwest portion of Kent County, including the city of Grand Rapids. He has been the district's representative since 2011.
