So it's been a bit up in the air this year, when will Rosa Parks Circle transform into the ice skating rink downtown?

If you've been around the downtown area recently, you've noticed they're definitely getting the ice rink ready for use. And now we know when they plan to start letting skaters on the ice and what the COVID-19 rules will be this year.

The City of Grand Rapids announced today (Monday) that they're still planning to open the ice rink on December 18th at Noon. It will still just be $2 per person to skate. However this year, instead of just being able to walk up and rent skates, you'll have to have a reservation for a one-hour block on skating time. That one-hour reservation will also include, as the post on the Rosa Parks Circle Ice Rink Facebook page states, your check-in, skate rental, and skate return.

They'll also be limiting the number of people on the ice at any one time to just 25 people and skaters must wear a face mask or covering at all times when skating. They'll also be sanitizing the skates between uses as well.

There are plenty of other changes, as well, such as no big groups or birthday parties allowed, and the entire operation will be moved outside under tents. So, instead of going into the crowded skate rental office, as you have years before, this year everything will happen outside under a few tents.

Good news, you can call and make a reservation to skate up to two-weeks early! All of the info is in the post below.
