Celebrate National Dog Day With Holland’s First Bark in the Park
Here we are in the "dog days" of summer and National Dog Day is coming up, so why not get out and celebrate with your pup?
Windmill Island Gardens in Holland has announced its first ever "Bark in the Park" this Saturday, August 26, 9:30a.m. to 1p.m.
Dog lovers, dog owners - and of course dogs! - are invited to not only enjoy the beautiful summer scenery but to experience games, crafts, balloon animals, giveaways, and a visit from the famous Oscar Mayer Frankmobile.
All park attractions will be open at the event too, including the de Zwaan windmill, carousel, street organ, historic Little Netherlands display, the permanent "Tulip Grove" carved from old-growth oak trees, walking trails, thousands of annual and perennial flowers, and gift shop.
Plus, booths will be set up for local animal hospitals, groomers, trainers, accessory crafters, treat bakeries, and more.

Paws in the City, an event sponsor will be offering free ornament painting, $5 nail trims, a photo booth, treats, and a raffle.
Another sponsor Mapleview Animal Hospital will have a raffle as well.
A food truck will be available in the park during the event to grab some lunch, and the Holland Police Department’s Polar Patrol ice cream truck will be there from 11:00am to 1:00pm with free ice cream!
Please note, dogs cannot enter the windmill or the gift shop, and they must be on leashes.
