What Is A Hat Trick?

I heard Janna explain what a hat trick was the other day so I thought, I may want to put that in this article in case there are others who don't understand the term.

A hat trick is a hockey term for when a player scores three goals in one game. Usually, when this happens, the fans in the stands throw their hats on the ice as you see in the photo above.

When I was in Indiana I played hockey with some of my co-workers in an old guys league. I sucked but in one game I came so close to a hat trick with two goals the guys fed me the rest of the game and I just couldn't get one more in but it was a lot of fun.

How To Win On Weekends With The GRD App

The GRD app is a key component in winning weekends with 97.9. First I will tell you that the GRD app is free and if you don't have it, click here.

There are a lot of great features on the GRD app but the one you need to focus on for this contest is the app chat feature. This is the feature that allows you to message the jocks right into the studio like when you text your friends.

Once you have downloaded the GRD app and create an account. On the menu bar under the photo on the top half of the screen, there is a menu bar and on the far right, it says message us.

So when you are listening to the station, a sounder will play between songs that will tell you about the contest, and the sounder will give you a phase. Message the phrase through the app chat feature to the jocks. The next business day winners will be selected.

The sounders will run Saturday, Sunday, and Memorial Day between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.

This Memorial weekend on GRD is a hat trick weekend featuring tickets to see Alice in Chains, Breaking Benjamin, and Bush at Pine Knob Music Theatre in Clarkston, Michigan, on August 16th.

Alice in Chains at Pine Knob

Alice in Chains is one of the great bands from the grunge era of the 90s. AIC is still one of the great bands to see live today. There are no computers helping along with Alice in Chains as they all really play their instruments and have great vocal harmonies to go along with the amazing catalog of music they have created over the years.

Breaking Benjamin at Pine Knob

Breaking Benjamin is co-headling on this run and as many times as the band has been here in Grand Rapids, you know they bring it.

The video above was taken in Grand Rapids two years ago when they performed at Van Andel Arena. Breaking Benjamin is another great band that leaves the computers at home and performs a full live show with great vocals and great songs. Don't be surprised if you wind up singing along to some of their great songs.

 Bush at Pine Knob

Bush is also in this amazing lineup. Bush is another band that refuses to use backing tracks and actually performs live. Bush is another band from the Grunge era of the 90s who are still making great albums and soon we should be getting another one.

Above is a full show from Bush for 2021 to give you a taste of what you will experience at Pine Knob in August. You have probably heard nearly every single song from their Sixteenth Stone album on the radio.
