Grand Rapids is super spoiled to have an international airport in our backyard. Being wedged between Chicago and Detroit and having a guaranteed connecting flight or a direct flight to Florida to visit my grandparents is a benefit that I know I take for granted.

Terminal Enhancement Project

In 2024, the Airport began the $135 million Terminal Enhancement Project on the west end of the terminal (where you enter the drop-off) to add "new public spaces, additional ticketing areas, and a consolidated baggage inspection system for checked luggage."

This project is coming off the heels of the Concourse A expansion project, which saw the number of gates increase from 8 to 14 and saw more retail shops and concessions like Bell's Brewery installed.

Become Part Of The Building

As a fun part of the construction, the Airport has set up a steel beam that will eventually be installed in the new terminal, and people from the community can sign the beam and become a permanent part of GRR.
