I love Grand Rapids and all it has to offer with local music, so I decided why not feature local bands here on wgrd.com! Today's featured SicXten, they answered a few questions for me below! Check them out, and if you're in a local band who wants to be featured fill out this form. I don’t just feature anyone, so don’t suck and you’ll get the Jackie stamp of approval ;) Find me on facebook too, to follow all your favorite local bands, and GRD news by clicking HERE

When did the band get together, and how?
The band got together about two years ago. Josh and Trace had previously been in a band together for quite some time. Josh and Jared started SicXten, and Trace joined in for vocals along with original bassist Konnor Kubacki. Kubacki left without much explanation a few months after the band began. Thankfully, Jorge was glad to take his place in the band.
How would you describe your music to someone?
We play heavy metal. We try not to base our sound around sub-genres. One could compare our sound to Trivium with a combination of Demon Hunter.
Who are some of the bands that influence your music?
Slipknot has been a strong influence to the band as a whole. When we first started jamming together, most of what we learned were Slipknot covers. individual members have vastly different interests; from August Burns Red to Wu Tang Clan.
What other bands have your members been/are in?
Josh and Trace were in Fateless, which is now broken up. Josh has played drums in No Sleep For Panama, and Trace is currently temping for vocals in a new local band, Between The Grands.
What other local bands would you recommend people check out?
Arrhythmia, Divided They Fall, Forever Until Now, En Vino Veritas, Between The Grands, A Perishing Escape.
Where is your favorite place to play in Grand Rapids?
Well it was the MXTP venue. Those people were amazing hosts to all the bands who played there. As of now, definitely the Orbit Room or Intersection- even though we've only played there a couple times.
