Grand Rapids Launches the City’s First Emergency Preparedness Program
With wild weather and natural disasters becoming more frequent, it's always good to be prepared.
Do you know what to do in an emergency?
The City of Grand Rapids is now offering courses to help residents learn how to be prepared for emergencies.
The new Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program is starting soon.
Residents are invited to be a part of Grand Rapids' first city-focused disaster volunteer program to learn skills that can help you and your neighborhood if disaster strikes.
Level 1 training is free, open to the public, and is being hosted throughout the city.
The upcoming dates and locations are:
- Tuesday, August 22 (201 Market Ave SW)
- Thursday, August 24 (935 Baxter St SE)
- Wednesday, September 6 (1101 Monroe Ave NW)
Each course has 30 open seats.
You'll learn skills like fire safety, disaster first aid, light search and rescue, and more.
Residents must be 18 to participate.
