After collapsing during a game Saturday night, Grand Rapids Drive forward, 26-year-old Zeke Upshaw, has passed away.

WZZM 13 reports that Upshaw's family confirmed his death in a press release on Monday, March 26.

 

According to MLive, Upshaw collapsed Saturday, March 24th, during the final minute of the Drive's game against Long Island at the DeltaPlex Arena. He was transported to Spectrum Health.

He been in his second season with the Grand Rapid Drive. Originally from Chicago, Upshaw played three seasons at Illinois State before finishing his college career at Hoftstra.
NBA G League President Malcolm Turner said in a statement,
"The NBA G League family is devastated by the tragic passing of Zeke Upshaw.
Zeke was an outstanding young man whose powerful belief in himself and uncommon perseverance led to a successful professional basketball career. A beloved member of the Grand Rapids Drive, Zeke's continuous improvement and tireless work ethic were hallmarks of his career. We extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends and the Drive organization."
