Big news coming off of Mackinac Island today as the hotel posted on their Facebook page that they've been old to KSL Capital Partners.

The announcement starts off with,

It has truly been an honor and a privilege for my family to serve as steward of this incredible Michigan landmark for nearly nine decades. This is a role we have not taken lightly, nor was this decision to enter into an agreement with KSL Capital Partners.

It goes on to say that Dan Musser III will stay on as Chairman and continue to provide guidance and leadership to the team.

He also went on the assure everyone that KSL Capital Partners was a good choice for the future of the hotel, by saying,

KSL is a seasoned investor in travel and leisure businesses, with a depth of resources and capabilities to provide exceptional service. The combination of KSL’s investment in Grand Hotel and Davidson’s management of the property will ensure that long-time visitors and first-time guests alike will continue to enjoy the truly unique tradition, experience and family atmosphere that has been at the core of the hotel for 133 wonderful seasons.

Ideally not much is going to change with the operations of the historic hotel; but, as we know, anytime businesses change hands, things change a bit.   It seems by the announcement that the Musser family was aware of that possibility and has faith not much will change.

The Grand Hotel opened July 10, 1887, and became a State Historic Building in 1957.
