Gordie Howe Bridge Now Visible on Google Maps
The Gordie Howe Bridge isn't open yet, but it's already been mapped—appearing on Google before its official launch in 2025.
Gordie Howe
Fans knew legendary hockey player Gordie Howe as "Mr. Hockey." Howe played 25 seasons with the Detroit Red Wings and has often been considered the most complete player and one of the greatest of all time.
Howe retired with an impressive 801 goals and 1,049 assists, and those records were unbroken until Wayne Gretzky entered the game.
Howe passed away in 2016, but the memories of his time on ice will live on with fans and players for years to come.

With Howe being from Canada and his connection to Detroit from his time as a Red Wing, he was the perfect person to name the new international bridge after.
Gordie Howe Bridge Appears on Google Maps Before Opening
The Gordie Howe International Bridge was built to improve the flow of trade and traffic between Canada and the United States. Construction began in 2021 and is set to open in the fall of 2025.
Signs for the Gordie Howe International Bridge have appeared in Detroit, but there is still a small section of deck that needs completion. Work on the I-75 interchange remains ongoing, but the testing of the lighting system has already begun.
Google Maps wasted no time getting the Gordie Howe International Bridge onto the map. Hopefully, no politicians get involved because Howe is from Canada and tries to rename the bridge like the Gulf of Mexico was renamed to the Gulf of America.
