The original Good Truckin' Diner is based in Lansing, Michigan. Owner Nick Sinicropi expanded to Grand Rapids in 2023, opening a second location at 701 Wealthy St. SE. The space has seen a number of concepts come and go over the years, including Royals and, before that, Johnny B’z.

Is Good Truckin' Diner in Grand Rapids Closing?

Over the weekend, a post shared to Good Truckin’ Grand Rapids’ Instagram page suggested the restaurant was preparing to shut down. The message read:

Yes, after nearly 3 years serving up hot coffee and a tasty breakfast, we will be closing our doors. The last day of service for our Grand Rapids location will be Sunday, April 19. We would love to see y’all one last time for those who can make it. Thank you all for your support over the past 3 years.

That post has since been deleted, leaving customers wondering what is actually happening.

Why the Restaurant Could Close

Sinicropi told the Lansing State Journal the social media announcement was “not authorized.” However, he confirmed the restaurant is still facing a possible closure tied to an ongoing issue with its liquor license.

According to Sinicropi, the Grand Rapids location has been operating without a liquor license. If that license is not secured soon, the restaurant plans to close on April 26.

He also noted that the situation is impacting staffing, saying some front-of-house employees took the job expecting alcohol service to be part of the business and have started leaving for other opportunities.

What Happens Next?

While the future of the Grand Rapids location is still up in the air, Sinicropi said the Lansing restaurant will not be affected and operates independently.

For now, the Grand Rapids location remains open. Customers can follow the restaurant on Instagram for the latest updates.
