Spanish Fork had a 14-11 lead and the ball with 3.7 seconds left in the game. All Spanish Fork had to do was run out the clock and it'd be going to the big dance. Nope.

Instead of just taking a knee, for some reason Spanish Fork decided to run a play.

During the play, the clock ran out and the quarterback just dropped the football. Well, folks, that's a fumble.

You know what happens next. Maple Mountain picked up the ball and ran it into the end zone for a 17-14 win, KSL-TV reported.

Good job forgetting football rules, idiot!

In this high school playoff game in Utah between Spanish Fork and Maple Mountain, Spanish Fork had the ball and a 14-11 lead with 3.7 seconds to play. Game over? Not even close.

Spanish Fork quarterback Jason Money took the snap, but instead of taking a knee, he ran while the defense closed in on him. He fumbled the ball and Maple Mountain defender Brandon Beebe picked it up and, with the clock hitting zeroes, ran it into the end zone for a game-ending touchdown and a story to tell his grandkids later in life.

It just goes to show the importance of playing until the final whistle blows.
