Michigan is Used to Auto Jobs Getting Cut

It is no secret the state of Michigan over the years has gotten used to workers getting cut. I grew up in a home where my dad worked a lifetime in the automotive industry and I've heard all the stories and know many families who have been affected by the loss of a job in the auto industry.

For as long as I can remember the only automotive workers that usually get cut are the blue-collar workers. In all my years of walking this earth, I have never heard of a mass white-collar worker cut.

Ford is Cutting 3,000 White-Collar Workers

Growing up in Michigan I have heard of massive layoffs and job cuts but Ford cutting around 3,000 white-collar jobs is a first. This is a shocking number of management positions to go away all at once.

With the move from gas to electric vehicles, we all knew changes were coming but I don't think anyone saw this coming.

According to WOOD-TV, Ford is cutting 2,000 full-time salaried workers plus another 1,000 contract workers. Most cuts will occur in the United States and Canada. There will be some cuts in India.

The only good news in this story is the nearly 60,000 union factory workers will not be affected by the cuts.
