Firefighters Rescue Kayaker From Grand River

Over the weekend emergency crews responded to reports of a flipped kayak on the Grand River downtown Grand Rapids.

WZZM-13 reports that shortly after 5p.m. on Sunday, crews found a kayaker standing in water under the Bridge Street bridge, hanging on to a pillar.

After about 20 minutes, rescue crews were able to get the man to safety.

According to dispatch reports, some of the man's belongings continued to float downstream after the rescue.
