Fluffy Falkor Lookalike Dog Up for Adoption in Grand Rapids

If you were a kid of a certain era, there’s a good chance The NeverEnding Story lived permanently in your family’s VHS player. I remember watching it on a worn-out tape (yes, I’m old), and while most of the plot has fuzzed over with time, Falkor the Luckdragon never left my brain.

He was everything you want as a kid: wise, gentle—and gloriously fluffy! A flying, talking, oversized cuddle-dragon.

Whether you missed this film growing up or just want to relive a little slice of ’80s movie magic, here’s a clip. It still gets me—in the best, most nostalgic way.

So when the Kent County Animal Shelter shared a photo of a fluffy white dog who looks suspiciously like Falkor’s long-lost cousin, I basically turned into the heart-eyes emoji.

This sweet guy has that same gentle face, that same soft cloud-coat, and the kind of smile that makes you feel like everything in life is suddenly going to be okay. KCAS says he’s goofy, friendly, and just as happy romping around as he is curling up for a nap, which honestly feels extremely on-brand for a Luckdragon-in-training.

If you’ve been waiting for a sign that it might be time to adopt, well…a magical fluff-dragon showing up at a Grand Rapids shelter feels pretty on the nose.

This sweet boy is available now at the Kent County Animal Shelter, and he’s more than ready to bring some real-life movie magic into someone’s home!
