This is totally the type of event space I was looking for when Charlie and I were searching out wedding venues.

We love Michigan and its gorgeous lakes and waterways.

Our search led us to an awesome space in Traverse City with spectacular views. Our wedding was amazing and I would not trade our experience for anything, but I agree with the creator of this new event space in Holland that West Michigan needs more venues like the one she is building.

Fox 17 reports that city leaders in Holland have approved a new event space with unobstructed views of Lake Macatawa.

Holland native Candice Grinwis and her fiancé Brian Grant are behind the new project, Port 393.

Grinwis told Fox 17,

“When we went to get married we couldn’t find a fit in a venue so we thought, ‘you know, there’s a huge opportunity, and it’s a way for us to help improve Holland...We’ve always enjoyed rooftop bars and we’ve always enjoyed being near the water in whatever we do and the fact that we can combine these two and offer to people to use as an experience is awesome."

The two-story space will have a romantic staircase, rooftop bar, and access to the public boat launch, one block away at Kollin Park.

Grinwis says,

“People will be able to incorporate a boat however they want. They can end the night by going for a sunset cruise on Lake Michigan, or they can go on a cruise between the reception and the ceremony."

Port 393 is expected to open this fall.

According to Wood TV 8, the site at 393 Cleveland Ave. is the home of the former Schooner restaurant. Crews will tear down it down this spring and construction will being on Port 393.
