El Tapatio Mexican Restaurant Opens in Walker, Mich.

It's been a long time coming, but a new Mexican restaurant has opened up in Walker!

I first started following El Tapatio on Facebook way back in October 2023 - at that time, it seemed the plan was to open in December or January...

By July, those eager to visit the new, authentic Mexican restaurant were really curious about when it would open it's doors. Well, that time has come!

El Tapatio is located at 363 Cummings Ave. NW in Walker, at the site of the former DeHop's Restaurant. The restaurant held its grand opening August 22.

Owner Martin Bernal is a Holland native and owns several other restaurants in the area, including Los Ranchos and El Rancho in Holland, El Jaripeo in Fennville, Los Ranchos in Jenison, Los Primos Bar and Grill in Lake Odessa, and the recently opened Don Poncho in Wayland.

On El Tapatio's large menu you'll find appetizers like create-you-own nachos, wings, chips and dip, and chicken rice soup.

There's a variety of tacos, fajitas, quesadillas, plus shrimp, chicken, and steak dishes. El Tapatio also offers multiple veggie plates, and vegetarian fajitas and burritos.

The drink menu includes a variety of cocktails, beer, and wine.

El Tapatio's hours are Monday through Thursday 11a.m. to 10p.m., Friday and Saturday 11:30a.m. to 10:30p.m., Sunday 11a.m. to 9p.m.
