Dog Owner Charged for Animal Cruelty of 17 Dogs
The polar vortex was bad enough for humans, but it was very irresponsible leaving 17 dogs outside during the vortex. This is why a 65-year-old Battle Creek man is now facing animal cruelty charges.
According to WZZM, Calhoun County deputies had to rescue 17 dogs who were left with frozen water and frozen food during the vortex.
Animal Control stopped to do a routine animal welfare check Thursday January 31, 2019 near 10 Mile Road in Calhoun County and the dogs appeared to be in distress. The animal control officer tried to connect with the home owner but was unable to so a warrant was requested to remove the dogs.
Animal control removed 17 pit bull mixes and brought them to be evaluated at the Calhoun County animal Shelter.
Police are looking into the man for possible illegal breeding for dog fighting.
