DNR Officer Rescues Dog Who Fell Off 100-Foot Cliff in Newaygo
Cody the dog is safe and warm and back with his family after falling about 100 feet off a cliff along the Muskegon River in Newaygo, thanks to a Michigan DNR Officer.
According to a Facebook post from the Department of Natural Resources, Cody was reported missing on Tuesday after his fall from the cliff. Officer Jeff Ginn was notified about the missing dog Wednesday morning and launched his patrol vessel to search for Cody.
After searching for about an hour, Officer Ginn located Cody. According the the DNR's post, it sounds like the pup was cold and wet, but otherwise unharmed-- which is amazing after such a big fall!
The DNR reports that Cody was happily reunited with his family.
A person who identified herself as a family member commented on the DNR's post:
Thank you Jeff for saving Cody! The hill was icy and he lost his footing. I don’t know what situation we would be in if you wouldn’t have been able to rescue him!
She also added that luckily, Cody landed in a sandy area and that while he is a little sore, he will make a full recovery. Phew-- that is such good news!
Great job, Officer Gin! So glad that Cody is OK!
