COVID-19 Cases in Kent Co. Have Quadrupled in 3 Weeks

Kent County, Mich. is bracing for a surge in COVID-19 cases.

According to WOOD, Michigan as a whole is on the decline but Kent County cases are still on the rise.

Hospitals were reporting there were 11 cases per day on April 1 and by April 20 that number has jumped to 40 cases per day.

As the number of tests being administered goes up, so do the number of cases which leads to the number of cases that are spreading.

According to prediction models monitoring West Michigan, the peak for COVID-19 cases will be around mid May. Some models have this even further into the summer.

Area health officials are preparing for the worst after seeing what has happened in Detroit.

State legislators are trying to get the state open for business again but health officials think doing this too soon will cause a much more severe peak in cases in West Michigan.
