Iconic and Beloved Grand Rapids Restaurant is up For Sale
When talk of folks' favorite restaurants in Grand Rapids comes up, this beloved joint gets mentioned all the time. Hopefully it will stay open!
I've definitely heard rave reviews about the burgers at Choo Choo Grill. And now I'll be sure to go in and try one just in case!
Choo Choo Grill is located at at 1209 Plainfield Ave NE.
The breakfast and lunch restaurant serves up classics like Omelets, French Toast, Scrambles, BLTS, Tuna Melts, and Burgers .
There is even a one pound burger called The Legend. And sometimes they've been known to whip up a three pound burger!

Hours are Monday through Saturday 7a.m. to 3p.m... for now.
According to Crain's Grand Rapids the owners of Choo Choo grill are looking to retire.
Rick Mack and his wife Darcie have run the restaurant for nearly three decades. Overall, Choo Choo grill has been in the family for 66 years.
Rick tells Crain's,
I’m going to be 70 in November and have 17 grandchildren. It’s time to look at the next phase of my life.
He says the hope is that someone will buy the restaurant and want to keep it open, though the sale is not dependent on that. There is currently no closing date for the restaurant set.
The iconic red brick restaurant and surrounding property is listed for $1.5 million. The sale also includes a tattoo parlor in the retail building at 1219 Plainfield Ave. NE.
Total square feet of the property is 19,166 and the buildings sit on .44 acres.
