This Car Crash Collapsed A Building In Grand Rapids
Grand Rapids is known for the many murals that adorn the buildings throughout and around the city. Since ArtPrize started all those years ago, more and more buildings have become covered in beautiful works of art.
However, a mural on the side of an abandoned building on Thomas St. and Eastern Ave. has been obliterated after a car flew through the side of a building in a two-car accident, partially collapsing the side of the building.
A Series of Unfortunate Events
On August 18th at around 3 a.m., the Grand Rapids Police Department (GRPD) said that one vehicle blew through a stop sign and crashed into another vehicle that was going through the intersection, causing the vehicle to veer off the road into the abandoned building.
The vehicle took out the corner of the building, causing the wall and floor above to collapse. One driver had minor injuries.

Before The Crash
The building had sat vacant for quite some time. I pass by this building frequently and don't know the last time I saw the building with a resident. According to Google, the location used to be Mika's Boutique Hair Fashions.
Prior to the crash, the mural featured three people on the corner of the building. However, the car crashed straight through the corner of the building, taking out one of the people.
What will happen to the building next is unknown, but this article will be updated once news is shared.
