I always get excited when I hear of new places to check out in Grand Rapids, especially if it's a place where I can get good food and drinks.

A Detroit based restaurant called Bobcat Bonnie's is now open here in West Michigan. They are located at 1968 Breton Road on the southeast side. (The building used to be the home of Houlihan's restaurant.)

According to their website, their mission is "to provide high-quality, inviting service within a clean, fun, and welcoming atmosphere while serving fresh, upscale food at a friendly price. Our goal is to be your neighborhood spot."

It all began in 2015 with the original Bobcat Bonnie's in Corktown, near Detroit. Their building was near the old Tiger Stadium They now also have restaurants in Wyandotte, Ferndale, Ypsilanti, and in Clinton Township.

WOOD TV-8 sat down with owner Matt Buskard earlier this year to talk about the opening of the Grand Rapids location...

The restaurant is known for their brunch. Back in 2019, their Corktown location was selected as one of the 24 Best Brunches in America. It was the only restaurant in Michigan to be mentioned by Thrillist in their search for the Best Brunch.

Buskard is no stranger to the Grand Rapids area. He is originally from Allendale.

Bobcat Bonnie’s Grand Rapids’ current hours are 11 am-10 pm Tuesday & Wednesday, 11 am-11 pm on Thursday & Friday, 4-11 pm on Saturday, and Noon-8 pm on Sunday.

The restaurant is planning to add hours on Mondays and soon will be offering a weekend brunch. I'm looking forward to checking that out!

LOOK: Best Beers From Every State

To find the best beer in each state and Washington D.C., Stacker analyzed January 2020 data from BeerAdvocate, a website that gathers user scores for beer in real-time. BeerAdvocate makes its determinations by compiling consumer ratings for all 50 states and Washington D.C. and applying a weighted rank to each. The weighted rank pulls the beer toward the list's average based on the number of ratings it has and aims to allow lesser-known beers to increase in rank. Only beers with at least 10 rankings to be considered; we took it a step further to only include beers with at least 100 user rankings in our gallery. Keep reading to find out what the best beer is in each of the 50 states and Washington D.C.
