
Unlock the Outdoors: Low-Cost Nature Programs Coming up at Kent County Parks
Looking to spend some time in West Michigan's great outdoors? Here are some fun opportunities coming up at local parks.
Blanford Nature Center is introducing "Nature Neighbors", a partnership with Kent County Parks.

Blanford Nature Center Offer Programs at Kent County Parks
Blanford Nature Center is offering low-cost science and art based programs at seven local parks starting May 6th and running through September 27.

Some are geared toward children, others are great for all ages!
Class options include:
- Bumblebee Nature Walks - each month has a different theme. For example June is Fantastic Flowers, July is Grogs and Polliwogs. Kids under two are free. Anyone two and up, cost is $5. The program is designed to get young children out and exploring in nature. Each child gets a backpack with tools. A nature educator guides the walk and activities.
- Sensory Experience - Enjoy a relaxing sensory experience with nature, like cloud gazing, kinetic sand, sensory boards, and creek walks. Kids two and under are free. Anyone over the age of two, it's $5.
- Birding Hikes- All ages are welcome to hike around the park various species of birds. An environmental educator leads hike. Binoculars available to borrow. Cost is $10.
- Nature Storytime - Listen to whimsical tales about Michigan's plants and animals. Theme changes monthly. Kids two and under are free. Anyone over two, it's $5. S
- Senior Series, Paining in the Park - Seniors are invited to paint in the park with friends. All materials are provided. Cost is $5.
- Sowing Seeds - Learn about planting your own garden. Take home two vegetable starts to begin your journey. Kids two and under free, all others $5.

Additional classes you can take are clothes mending, sun prints, flower pounding, nature crafts, nature journaling, and kayaking.

- Fallasburg Park in Lowell
- Townsend Park in Rockford
- Long Lake Park in Sparta
- Lake Wabasis Park in Greenville
- Caledonia Lakeside Park in Caledonia
- Millennium Park in Walker
