Big Cat Sighting In Michigan Sparks Panther Speculation
Recently, someone posted on Reddit about seeing a black panther in Michigan, then others chimed in with possible sightings.
Black Panther
A black panther is not a distinct animal species. A black panther is typically a melanistic colour variant of a leopard or a jaguar found in Africa, Asia, and Central and South America. They are not found in the United States except in a zoo.
Although there have been many reported sightings of black panthers in Michigan, they were likely misidentified animals, such as bobcats, mountain lions (cougars), or large melanistic domestic cats, which have black fur.

Alleged Panther Sighting in Michigan
A poster on Reddit was recently staying at his parents' house in Canton, Michigan, and believes he spotted a panther at 12:30 a.m. The poster claims he thought it was a German Shepherd because of its pointy ears and size, but when the animal stepped under the streetlight, he could see it was pitch black with a long, cat-like tail. This is when others chimed in on the thread with the comments below.
Not sure how you mix up a cougar with a deer, since a deer doesn't creep low to the ground.
This poster sounds confident, but I'm still skeptical
Not to discount what people may have thought they saw, this post was the first in the thread that made real sense.
This post clearly explains what the person may have actually seen..
That is a lot to take in, but if there is any truth to that, Tommy Hearns might be in some trouble.
