Beloved 50+ Year Old West Michigan Pizza Business Goes Up for Sale
After serving the community for 54 years, a Muskegon County pizza business is on the market.
Big John's Pizza is located at 104 N Thompson St. in Whitehall, Mich. Using family recipes, the eatery serves up made-from-scratch pizzas, subs, sandwiches, chicken and seafood baskets.

Recently owner Amy and Neal Martell shared to Facebook,
After 5 1/2 years of feeling the call, prayer and over 8 years of hard work, sweat, lots of sacrifice of time with family, tears, heartache, and stress we have decided to sell the business.
They say it is their hope that someone takes over the business as "we are in a new season of life and honestly just don’t have the energy to move it."
In the comments, many are expressing their love for the restaurant and their sadness to see it go if a new owner cannot be found.

While the owners did not elaborate much in the post, I found an article from WZZM-13 from last year that sheds some more light on the situation.
WZZM-13 reported that the city of Whitehall has been trying to acquire the property Big John's Pizza occupies since the 90s in order to create a city park. At the time, it was announced there was a plan for the City to purchase the property.
The owners mention they do have another suggested location and floor plans to share along with a contractor.

So it does not sound like the actual property itself is included in the sale. What is included in the sale is the Big John's Pizza name and brand and all the equipment shown in the photos below, along with some items not pictured.
Cost is $300,000.
As far as a closing date, the Martells say in their Facebook post they will have to close Aug 11, 2024 at the latest in preparation for closing on the property.
