Axl Rose just went on the attack via Twitter. The Guns N’ Roses vocalist questioned the immigration status of First Lady Melania Trump, lighting her up as an “alleged former hooker.”

Axl’s tweets didn’t just come out of nowhere. News outlets recently reported that Melania Trump (Melania Knauss at the time) obtained an EB-1 visa from her native Slovenia in 2001. The controversy comes from the EB-1, also know as an “Einstein Visa,” which is awarded very rarely to individuals who “demonstrate extraordinary ability in the sciences, arts, education, business, or athletics through sustained national or international acclaim.” Applicants can also “demonstrate international recognition for ... outstanding achievements in a particular academic field.”

Melania reportedly dropped out of college during her freshman year before becoming a model, so Rose (and many others) question how she was awarded an Einstein Visa. Since Melania met Donald Trump in 1998, famously being photographed nude on Trump’s private jet for a 2000 issue of British GQ, reporters are questioning Trump’s involvement in Melania’s successful EB-1 visa application. The special visa paved the way for Melania’s parents to move to the U.S. via “chain migration,” a practice which President Trump now aims to end. Melania became a U.S. citizen in 2006. The Guns N’ Roses legend has been heavily critical of the Trump administration in the past, calling Ivanka Trump’s involvement in her father’s cabinet “inappropriate”:
