Grand Rapids Pizza Food Truck to Open Brick-and-Mortar Restaurant
Grand Rapids' Creston neighborhood continues to grow!
We recently told you the food truck Street Chew Shaw would be opening a new restaurant in Creston - here's news of another.
Arcane Pizza is set to open its first brick-and-mortar location, also in the Creston Neighborhood! The owners Clinton Edwards and Samantha Poma-Edwards shared the news to Facebook at the end of October, saying,
We are super excited to announce that Arcane Pizza will be opening up a brick and mortar in the Creston neighborhood...It's been a wild ride getting to this point and all I can say is THANK YOU to all our supporters for making this a reality. More news to come on our opening date. Keep an eye out!
Known for its wood-fired pizza, the husband and wife team have been operating the food truck for the past three years. According to Crain's Grand Rapids, Clinton got into the restaurant business several years ago. While Samantha was a traveling nurse, Clinton would travel with her and worked at restaurants around the country. One of the restaurants in which he worked as a wood-fired pizza joint in Colorado. The experience inspired the couple to start the food truck.
Their pizzas are made with a sourdough crust and offer both vegan and vegetarian options. There's also a gluten free crust you can order. Meat options include pepperoni, prosciutto, chicken sausage, chicken breast, and marinated pork. Toppings include goat cheese, peaches, cherry tomatoes, roasted pepper, Seranno chiles, and more.
Here's a look at the Pizza Al Pastor above, which has a salsa base, marinated pork, queso fresco, grilled pineapple, cilantro, and chipotle lime crema.
Arcane Pizza also does catering with a variety of food items.
Clinton tells Crain's,
We want to be creative. We consider it artisan [pizza]. We have a passion for food and the people eating it and just try to keep it fresh and fun.
Of the new brick-and-mortar restaurant, he says,
The opportunity just kind of presented itself and we decided to just take the leap. This is definitely a big transition for us.
The new Arcane Pizza restaurant is located at 1300 Plainfield Ave. NE. Complete with a full kitchen and brick pizza oven, it's the former home of Jackpot Pizza and Roberto's Plainfield Pizza.
To start, the restaurant will offer takeout only, with the goal of adding patio seating, Crain's reports.
While a grand opening date has not been revealed, a soft opening is set to happen in the coming weeks.
