Michigan Location Once Again Crowned the Most Educated City in the Country

For multiple years running, one Michigan city has been getting praised as the most educated in the U.S. - Well, it's done it again!

Wallethub sought to find the most and least educated locations in the country.

The finance publication compared 150 of the largest metropolitan areas, assessing them on factors like:

• Share of adults 25 and older with no college or degree
• How many people aged 25 and older had some kind of college degree (Associate's, Bachelor's, Master's, Graduate, Professional, or Doctoral)
• Quality of the public school system
• The average quality of universities
• Number of summer learning opportunities per capita

After analyzing the data, WalletHub crowned one Michigan city the most educated overall.

Ann Arbor, Mich., is the Most Educated City in the U.S.

Wallethub found that Ann Arbor, home to the University of Michigan, is the most educated city, not just in Michigan, but in the U.S. Ann Arbor was also ranked No. 1 last year and in previous years as well! It's topped Forbes list of most educated cities too.

Ann Arbor received a total score of 93.71. The city came in at No. 1 in terms of Educational Attainment Rank and No. 4 in regard to Quality of Education & Attainment Gap Rank.

Ann Arbor was ranked No. 1 in the following categories:

• Percentage of High School Diploma Holders
• Percentage of Associate's Degree Holders or College-Experienced Adults
• Percentage of Bachelor's Degree Holders
• Percentage of Graduate or Professional Degree Holders

Wondering how other Michigan cities fared? The home of U-M's rival, MSU, East Lansing came it a No. 42.

Grand Rapids is the 67th most educated city in the U.S.

Detroit is ranked No. 8 and Flint No. 127.

Least Educated Cities in America

As far as the ten least educated cities in the U.S., they are all in Texas and California, aside from one in North Carolina.

Wallethub found Visalia, Calif., to be the least educated city in the country.
