Now, one of the area's longest-running local restaurant brands has officially opened the doors to its new West Side home.

Adobe Mexican Kitchen Is Now Open on Bridge Street

Adobe Mexican Kitchen (formerly Adobe In & Out) is now serving customers at 527 Bridge St. NW in the former El Sombrero building near Seward Avenue. The new restaurant features indoor seating, a patio, a drive-thru, a late-night walk-up window, and plenty of parking.

It's open from 10:30 a.m. to midnight Monday through Wednesday and 10:30 a.m. to 3 a.m. Thursday through Saturday.

The opening marks the completion of a move that was first announced more than two years ago. In 2024, Adobe revealed plans to relocate its longtime Fulton Street restaurant to Bridge Street as part of a larger effort to modernize and expand the family-owned business.

Adobe's Long History in Grand Rapids

If you've lived in Grand Rapids for any length of time, chances are you've got an Adobe memory. The restaurant's roots stretch back to 1969, making it one of the area's most recognizable local restaurant names. Whether it was a wet burrito combo, a quick taco run, or grabbing chips and salsa on a lunch break, it’s been part of the rotation for a lot of people over the years.

It was for me. I used to grab lunch at Adobe's Leonard Street location all the time, so I was pretty bummed when that restaurant closed a few years back.

What Happened to the Fulton Street Location?

The former Fulton Street location has since been demolished, making way for a mixed-use housing development planned for the site. While that chapter has closed, Adobe's still has multiple restaurants in West Michigan.

In addition to the new Bridge Street restaurant, Adobe continues to operate locations in Walker and Grandville.

The new Bridge Street Adobe Mexican Kitchen is open from 10:30 a.m. to midnight Monday through Wednesday and 10:30 a.m. to 3 a.m. Thursday through Saturday.
