I'm sure you have heard of a three day weekend but how about a three decade weekend?

Labor Day weekend is coming up and I thought, why not do something different with the radio station for the weekend and give people a fun soundtrack for the last big summer weekend?

Like you, I will be taking some of my summer items and packing them away and trying to finish the last couple projects that I started over the summer. Mainly, clean out my garage and finally unpack. I have had this house for a year and a half and I still have not unpacked the last of my stuff.

So needless to say, I will be listening to GRD all Labor Day weekend for my soundtrack, too.

The three decade weekend will start on Saturday, September 5 at 10 a.m. and run until 7 p.m. We are going to feature the top GRD songs of the '80s. Trevor and I will be your hosts that day and will also give you info on things that were going on in the '80s to go with the music.

Then on Sunday, September 6, we will focus on the '90s from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Again, Trevor and I will talk about popular things from the '90s to go with the music from that era.

Finally, on Labor Day (Monday, September 7), we are going to focus on music from the 2000s. We will concentrate on 2000 - 2009 and Janna and I will accompany the music with pop culture events from that era.

Each day of the three decade weekend we will start from the bottom of the list and work our way to a number one song - basically giving you thirty years of rock in three days...hence the name, "Three Decade Weekend." We will post the final lists on WGRD.com the following Tuesday so you can see how good or bad you think we did.

It should be fun and bring back some memories for three generations of folks. So join us for a three decade weekend Labor Day weekend with the rock station, 979 GRD!
