Obesity is a problem in the United States. Obesity is an imbalance in calorie intake caused by excessive consumption of processed foods, sugary drinks, and unhealthy fats. Limited physical activity and not drinking enough water also contribute to obesity.

Even our neighboring countries are overweight. According to the Global Obesity Observatory, Mexico is the 34th most obese country in the world, with Canada landing at number 50 on the list.

2 Michigan Cities Among the Most Obese in U.S.

According to Wallet Hub, Michigan has two cites that made the list of America's most obese cities.

The City of Detroit came in at 36 on the list of most obese cities in the United States. Grand Rapids made the list at number 59. Below is what Michiganders are saying about Grand Rapids being one of the most obese cities in the country:

Recently, on the Grand Rapids Reddit page, poster "adrenacrome" said, "What up, fatties?" We're now the 59th most obese city in the U.S." The above post was the first response. I have to admit, I did laugh out loud.

Let's not forget Grand Rapids is first in craft beer, so we are good at 2 things.

That is one way to look at it, except when you know that it is out of nearly 19,500 cities in America.

I'm not sure moving up on the list is something Grand Rapids needs to strive for.
