Where to Try the Odder Olympic Sports Around Mi/GR
Every time the Olympics roll around people start looking into some of the odder sports and if want to try something new, here are a few West Michigan places to look.
Odder Olympic Sports
It seems every four years when the Olympics come around, there are a few sports I see that I didn't even know were in the games.
Sure we all know about swimming and track but what if you wanted to learn about fencing, curling, ribbon twirling, breaking, handball, modern pentathlon, sport climbing, and others?
Where to Try Odd Olympic Sports in West Michigan
I went to a regular Michigan public school so there wasn't a fencing team at my school. If you would like to try fencing there is the West Michigan Fencing Academy located on Godfrey in Grand Rapids and they have a summer schedule open to all ages. Now all ages can be prepared if you run into a duel.
If you would like to become an Olympic table tennis champion you may want to join the West Michigan Table Tennis Club in Muskegon. It is for all ages and could lead to tournament play to get you in the game.

Maybe you would like to climb your way to a gold medal. Higher Ground Rock Climbing Centre on Bond Avenue in Grand Rapids would be a great place to do sport climbing. It looks like Higher Ground has something for climbers of all ages and levels.
I couldn't find a modern pentathlon organization in West Michigan but I did find the Grand Rapids Triathlon but you will have to wait until next year to compete.
