The origin of Mother's Day goes back to 1868, when a woman by the name of Ann Jarvis created the "Mother's Friendship Day" to reunite families that had been divided during the Civil War. She worked to try and make an annual Mother's Day event but passed away before it would happen.

Jarvis' daughter Anna continued the work her mother started and was able to get Mother's Day established as an annual holiday in West Virginia in 1910 which soon spread to the rest of the country.

Win Your Mom a New Roof for Mother's Day

Is your Mom in need of a new roof? Is the roof leaking, shingles blowing off when its windy, is it messed up from storm damage, or hasn't been changed in over 50 years?

What we need is a photo of her roof (we don't need the whole house), her address, and a brief note of why your Mom deserves to have her roof replaced. A panel of judges will read over each letter and look at every photo until they can decide who's Mom needs the roof the most. You have until May 2, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. (noon) EST to enter your Mom's roof but don't tell her you are entering her roof, we want that to be a surprise.
