After 12 years, DiPiazza's Pizzeria at 1358 Leonard St. NW has permanently closed. The west side Grand Rapids pizza joint's last day in business was April 24.

DiPiazza's claim to fame was serving the "biggest pizza in Grand Rapids": The 30" Big Di's XXXL. In addition to pizza, DiPiazza's also served pasta dinners, subs, burritos, tacos, salads, and starters like fried mushrooms, fried pickles, chili cheese fries, and pretzel bites.

Owners Chip and Rose DiPiazza shared the news of the closure to Facebook saying,

Back in 2018 I went into the hospital with BP of 250/140. I lost sight in an eye and I was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney failure. I just can't work the hours I did before.
We've had a couple of offers on the pizza place in the last couple of years, but they were way to low. We have found someone to rent the front but it won't be a pizza place.
So we have decided to close the pizza place. April 24, 2021 will be our last day. We have met many great customers along the way (and few a-holes). So please no tears, just remember how full your belly was after you had one of our pizzas.
