Kalamazoo Confirms First West Nile Case Of The Year

Mosquitoes tested positive for West Nile virus, according to the Kalamazoo County Health & Community Services Department's Environmental Health Division

West Nile virus has previously been detected in Michigan mosquitoes, and the first case of 2025 has been found in the Kalamazoo area.

• Stay indoors at dusk and dawn when mosquitoes are most active.
• Ensure window and door screens are properly installed and have no large holes to prevent mosquitoes from entering your home.

First West Nile Case Confirmed in Kalamazoo This Year

If you live in Kalamazoo County, take the precautions listed above to avoid mosquito bites, as the West Nile virus has been detected in the area.

According to WOOD TV, the Kalamazoo County Health and Community Services Department's Environmental Health Division found a group of mosquitoes that tested positive for West Nile virus.

Several other Michigan counties have also reported mosquitoes testing positive for West Nile virus in 2025, including Bay, Kent, and Macomb counties.
