Parts of Michigan finally got some needed rain over the weekend. One weekend storm brought a double rainbow to Newaygo County.

No Rain and Burn Warnings

Before this past weekend, most of Michigan had burn bans in place. It had been several weeks without significant rain which had dried up fields and forest floors.

I recently traveled from Grand Rapids to the west side of the Upper Peninsula and there were fire warnings all the way there and back. The Department of Natural Resources was urging people not to have campfires or burn piles because it's been so dry in the entire state for quite some time.

With the leaves changing colors and falling from the trees across Michigan, one little ash is capable of burning down an entire forest if we are not careful when it's dry out. Michigan finally got hit with some rain over the weekend and now the chance of fire is low-risk. Whew, because I have a huge pile of brush I need to burn.

Over the weekend my boys were with me to do some bow-hunting. The weather was great on Saturday and Sunday morning. Just as we were going to head out for the afternoon hunt on Sunday, that is when the rain showed up with a thunderstorm.

So the boys and I decided to watch the Lions game and that is when the rain came down hard. It was raining so hard that we could barely pick up the TV signal (No satellite or cable TV).

The rain stopped about 45 minutes before dark and the older boy says I bet there is a rainbow then he gets all excited and yells its a double rainbow. So we all ran outside and there they were.

I've seen my share of single rainbows and a few parts of double rainbows but this was my first time seeing two full double rainbows.

The boys took the time to get a selfie with the two rainbows. The two rainbows didn't last long but these pictures will last forever and so will the memories.

Lunar Rainbow: Why the Moon Changes Colors, Explained

When the moon lies on the horizon, the color will be most intense, usually red or orange. When there's more blue light, as during the early morning hours, we're more likely to see purple and blue-tinged moons. Here's why:
