What does a Trivium show minus Matt Heafy sound and look like? The band's fans in Edmonton found out Thursday night (Oct. 25) at the Ranch Roadhouse as special guests helped the group honor their show while Heafy returned home to be with his pregnant wife for the upcoming birth of their twins.

It was revealed earlier this week that Heafy would be stepping away from the tour, with Light the Torch's Howard Jones and Avatar's Johannes Eckerstrom stepping in to help out with vocals, while Jared Dines would assist with some of Heafy's guitar work.

Jones did much of the heavy lifting during the Edmonton show, opening the night on vocals for "Betrayer," "Throes of Perdition" and "Beyond Oblivion." He would also handle six more tracks before the night was through.

Eckerstrom's first appearance came during the encore, as he handled "Strife" and "Pull Harder on the Strings of Your Martyr." Meanwhile, Trivium's own Corey Beaulieu and Paolo Gregoletto also handled a portion of the vocal duty, singing on four of the songs from the evening's set. Fan shot video featuring Jones on vocals can be viewed below.

Trivium will play The Palace Theatre in Calgary tonight, with primarily West Coast dates remaining on this tour leg. The run concludes Nov. 3 in Berkeley, Calif. and you can see the upcoming stops on the tour here.
