My son and I were fishing at Muskegon Lake and saw something floating in the air in the daylight we couldn't explain.

My son and I love to fish we have heard a lot about the walleye in Muskegon Lake. We have fished there a few times in the last few years with no luck.

Unfortunately, our trip to Muskegon Lake over the weekend came up a bit short again only catching this tiny smallmouth bass. It was still fun, but not what we were looking for.

We witnessed a beautiful sunset while waiting for the night to fish for those sought-after "eyes." We saw something in the sky much earlier we couldn't explain.

It was still daylight when I saw this black thing in the sky rise above the treeline. We were looking at this object rising and thought are we seeing a UFO? Other boats near us were pointing at it and none of us could figure out what it was.

Once the object got higher we realized it looked like a smoke ring but we didn't hear any boom or could figure out what would make such a perfect ring.

The smoke ring began to dissipate but my son and I wondered what we had just witnessed so I put the photos on Facebook and this is what I learned.

Right out of the gate, I got a marijuana reference regarding Tommy Chong and Snoop Dog.  Then ringworm, a gut said he farted, another person said it was a flock of birds attaching a school of fish. One lady mentioned something that seemed to be on the right track for what caused the smoke ring.

I'm not sure who the dragon man is but interesting nonetheless. Many suggested aliens while others blamed cannabis. I did get a grin from Chuck McIlroy on the "Johnny Cash is coming back." It was probably a "Ring of Fire" reference.

I did appreciate John Hulka's "Aliens, bears, alien bears" post. It was Rachel Mathews Hawn who knew exactly what it was. Hawn said, "It was from my friend's wedding. They shot off a cannon thing at the end and this is what it did."

I did appreciate the posts above. There are lots more funny comments and some that also knew it was from a wedding and you can see them here.
