Waffles and Cocktails: New Restaurant Concept Coming to Downtown GR
Heads-up if you love waffles, coffee, and cocktails!
Wood TV 8 reports that Social Misfits, a new "ultimate comfort food" restaurant, will open up inside the new Residence Inn by Marriott downtown Grand Rapids this fall.
As a brunch (and cocktail) lover, I'm intrigued!
According to Wood TV 8, owner Spencer Raymond came up with the concept on the back of a napkin, after a day of business brainstorming with friends. He ditched his original concept after realizing it wouldn't "resonate with mainstream customers" and he wanted to create something more "inclusive".
Raymond said in a release,
We wanted to create an anytime hangout. Great food, great drinks, great coffee. A place where everyone feels welcome and comfortable. A place that makes you smile when you walk in because you know you’ve finally found your tribe. No matter who you are. And once you stop by, you’ll feel that immediately... We all feel like misfits at some point in life, and I think it’s important we embrace and celebrate it.
Wood TV 8 reports that Social Misfits will serve up sweet and savory waffles with unusual flavor combinations made with local ingredients and paired with Michigan maple syrup concoctions. They'll offer craft cocktails and also coffee and espresso drinks from The Great Lakes Coffee Roasting Company, which is based in Detroit.
Social Misfits will offer indoor and outdoor seating and be open for brunch, lunch, dinner, and late night cocktails.
Lots to check out at the Residence Inn downtown GR, as this is also where Wahlburgers is expected to open this summer.
Construction is underway on Social Misfits, with a plan for opening fall of 2021. Follow Social Misfits on Facebook for updates!
