Generally when you flip on the TV, you catch their cameras glamorizing the lives of people living on the coasts, and you dream that one day you might make it on the small screen. But, it's not totally impossible to find yourself on MTV if you're living in Grand Rapids.

In fact, we've had a member of the Real World cast represent us, and we've even had our own teen mom. (Although, that's an arguable bragging point)

But there was one golden moment back in 1992 when MTV made their way to West Michigan, and it was weirdly thanks to Morrissey.

He came to visit fans at the now defunct Vinyl Solutions for a CD signing, because he wanted to have an experience different from the major cities he'd been visiting.

So while we don't have the fancy mansions and beach experiences you may see every day when you turn on the music-less Music TV, it's still pretty awesome to see us as a part of their history.
